Canonical nos anuncia una versión de su distribución especialmente adaptada para dispositivos móviles.

Ubuntu for Mobile Internet Devices estará optimizado para operar sobre la plataforma MID 2008 (Mobile Internet Device), actualmente en desarrollo por parte de Intel.

De bajo coste enérgético y con un arranque rapidísimo y óptimo uso de las unidades de almacenamiento, la distribución ofrecería un alto desempeño multimedia, ideal para reproduciendo video y sonido.

La primera versión del mismo podría estar disponible para octubre del presente año, y los primeros dispositivos en incluirla verían la luz a comienzos del 2008.
